Something Like This
This was a site-specific installation that used a single point of the Bourbaki Panorama as the starting point. The paintings in this show are discussed in more detail here.
This show took advantage of the gallery's location near train tracks, which are visible out the window in the first image. From there, the other four paintings continue on an imaginary tangent to the Bourbaki Panorama. This tangent of a wall of paintings becomes the backdrop for the sculptural theatrical set-pieces, taxidermied animals, sculpted objects (such as two sculptures of the gallerist's dog), live trees, and the gallerist's live dog that roamed freely through the gallery.
This installation explored various ideas of representation and actual, along with the studies of when one thing becomes another thing. In particular, I was interested in how a body moves or positions itself in relation to different art forms. I was interested in when, exactly, a panorama becomes a diorama becomes a stage set becomes a sculpture becomes a living, moving thing.

This deliberate confusion was important to me. The winter scenes played off of the white walls of the gallery. This exhibition took place in January, which meant that viewers were dressed in winter wear, which I thought fitting for all the the winter scenes.
